BigArt, I think your comment is very well made. Westminster councillors should be thankful they work in the public sector as, had they been working in the private sector, they wouldn’t last for long with all their mistakes!

This shows the absurdity of the system. How can they ‘lose’ £3m in parking fine from foreign diplomats? They were never going to get it anyway and WCC should not include it in their revenue stream.
The crassest element is that the drone CEOs continue to ticket everything regardless, in their attempt to meet their targets (not the ones that WCC deny; the explicit ones that get them overtime & weekend work and clean toilet paper).
If CEOs were penalised for incorrectly issued tickets, the whole system would be much fairer.
But what is fair when those we elect continue to dream up new and evil ways to deprive us of our hard-earned cash to pay for their incompetence..?

I love the term “overspend” – somehow, this means something very different in WCCs edition of the OED than in my copy. In truth we’re talking about £15m lost on a crap camera system and over £3m in unpaid fines by foreign diplomates written off by the Council. If I ‘overspent’ £220 at work I’d expect a severe reprimand on behalf of my clients and I’m guessing a short walk to unemployment if I did it again. About time the untouchables at WCC were shown the door.
