A one-off £10 donation now or £93 million taken from bikers every year in the UK alone!

July 12, 2009

The Chairman of the No To Bike Parking Tax campaign made a very important announcement during the latest demonstration on 1st July 2009. Conservative Councillor Danny Chalkley of Westminster City Council has decided to make the bike parking tax permanent, despite the enormous number of objections received by the Council since its introduction in August 2008. The attitude of this Conservative councillor is, in our opinion, totally unacceptable, given the fact that he is paid to serve the public who elected him, not necessarily to do what he personnally thinks is good. What this man is doing goes against public will, and we wonder whether Westminster residents will make him realise this at the next local council elections in May 2010.

We are told that Councillor Danny Chalkley has plans to “sell” his bike parking tax to other councils across the country, starting with other Central London boroughs. The Tax Payers Alliance, who strongly support the No To Bike Parking Tax campaign, have calculated that, should this tax be deployed all over the United Kingdom, £93 million will be taken from motorcyclists every single year, although their mode of transport is the solution to reduce road congestion and air pollution. The use of motorcycles should be encouraged in the UK, not discouraged by a stealth tax that is only there to satisfy the financial appetite of local councillors. The attitude of these Westminster Conservative councillors is disgusting, especially as they give themselves the benefit of free parking in their own borough, as if they couldn’t afford the charges they themselves impose on the public.

WE MUST PUT AN END TO THIS CONSERVATIVE MOTORCYCLE PARKING TAX IMMEDIATELY!

We ask every one of you who reads this blog, wherever you are in the UK or the rest of Europe, to give the No To Bike Parking Tax campaign the cost of one tank of fuel, that is £10 (€12) (you are more than welcome to give more or less, depending on your financial situation). The campaign needs to raise £50,000 (€58,000) to instruct highly qualified public law specialists to take Westminster City Council to Court for having introduced their motorcycle parking tax illegally, so we are told. We are also told that the campaign has strong evidence that Westminster City Council introduced this stealth tax illegally back in August 2008. And it is right now that the campaign has a fantastic opportunity to take the Council to Court and get this parking tax, together with all its infrastructure, scrapped forever, before it spreads all over the UK and the rest of the European Union. But in order to do this in the most effective manner, the campaign needs to appoint highly specialised legal professionals, hence the need for £50,000. Even if you are based in France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands etc, nothing guarantees that this tax will not cross the channel and come your way, so we strongly advise you to help fight this tax now, before it comes to you.

Full details of the campaign, the legal fight and how to make your donation are available here. There is an online secure PayPal form that you can use to make your £10+ (€12+) donation.

THIS IS A HIGHLY IMPORTANT MESSAGE ADDRESSED TO ALL MOTORCYCLISTS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS ACROSS THE UK AND THE REST OF EUROPE. DONATE £10 NOW AND ONLY ONCE, OR PAY £93 MILLION PER ANNUM IN PARKING TAXES GOING FORWARD FOREVER IN THE UK ALONE. THE CHOICE IS YOURS BUT HERE IS A HUGE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, SO PLEASE DON’T MISS IT!
